This play was conceived and written by Adelina after receiving the NPN Creation Fund Award in 2010. Early in the workshop process she invited fellow artist, D'Lo to co-perform. Aside from a constant source of inspiration in the workshop rehearsals, where he helped originate some of the zany characterizations, he also. contributed a character monologue to the play. (Directed by Mark Valdez. Costume and prop design by Marisa Becerra. Photos shown below by Anjali Alimchandani from the 2011 allgo/Austin workshop production.)
The production officially world-premiered in Los Angeles at the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center's Renberg Theater from May 31st-June 16th, 2013. It was produced by Jon Imparato.
In The Fray's staff blogger, Tina Vásquez, writes: They Cut the Fire Straight Out of Me.
From 2006 to 2008, Adelina collaborated with Alison de la Cruz and D'Lo to create a variety show called, Spotlight Stealerz. The show featured a combination of comedic skits, monologues and poetry. They performed at Outfest Fusion Film Festival and college campuses.
Adelina has also been an actor in numerous ensemble theatrical productions and has been directed by Cora Cardona, Patrick Kelly, Daniel Alexander Jones, Cherrie Moraga, Tracy Ward, Mark Valdez and others.
