TEATRO Q, created over a decade ago, this workshop is a creative and energizing space for two-spirit/ lesbian/ gay/ bisexual/ trans/ gender non-conforming/ queer/ womyn/ people of color allies to develop their performance and writing skills. The workshops are taught from feminist, queer people of color, indigenous histories and practices. The workshops aim to center the discipline of craft and align one's artistic practice within the spiritual framework of "offering."
Although Adelina has taught within a university setting, Teatro Q is primarily offered within a community context. Aware of the myriad obstacles that keep many of her ideal students from accessing professional training opportunities, this workshop is her response and commitment to teaching students of all ages and levels of experience from marginalized communities.
Adelina has her B.A. and M.A. in Drama. and credits her MeXicana childhood for providing her with the initial training ground to become a performer. Over the years, she has been trained in performance, directing and/or writing by Patrick Kelley, Cora Cardona, Cherrie L. Moraga and Ruth Atkinson. She credits Cherrie L. Moraga and Celia Herrera Rodriguez for her first teachings in Xicana Indigeneous thought and practice. Continued teachings in spirituality have been greatly influenced by nancy Chargualaf martin.
A 2017 TEATRO Q Workshop will be announced before summer.
